It’s time to share with you our tremendous successes from yesterday’s MSVMA District Choral Festival. Both groups received great scores and comments, Chorale receiving a State qualifying “Excellent” rating, and Bel Canto receiving a “Good” rating. These are the same overall ratings that both groups received last year, yet both have demonstrated significant growth. Chorale received a score of 103 pts, where they received a 96 last year. Even more remarkable is the growth in Bel Canto, who received a 91 this year, where they received a 74 last year.
Perhaps more importantly, the students showed poise under pressure and excellent manners throughout. What a wonderful day of music making with our choir students! Thank you all so much for your continued support, and for making these performances possible!

Today is the day!! The IA Choirs are currently performing at choir festival as you read this tweet! Try to hear them at Waterford Kettering if you get the chance but keep a positive thought for them as you go about your day!
The IA Bands and Orchestras had another Great showing last week at MSBOA Band and Orchestra Festival. Each of the groups received fantastic comments and suggestions for improvements. The groups had a great sight reading experience and worked with a great clinician! The results are as follows:
String Orchestra received a 1st division rating!
Concert Band received a 2nd division rating!
Symphonic Band received a 1st division rating!
Symphony Orchestra received a 1st division rating!
Even more impressive is the fact that two of our ensembles earned the distinction of receiving straight 1s. This means that all 4 adjudicators that listened to the ensemble gave the group 1st division ratings. Congratulations to the String Orchestra and the Symphonic Band for earning this distinction.
Thank you to our great students for the hard work put forth for this performance! Thank you to all the parent chaperones and the music boosters for making the day run so smoothly!
On Thursday, March 13 all band and orchestra students will be participating in MSBOA Band and Orchestra Festival. The festival is a concert performance and a sight reading performance that is evaluated by an independent board of adjudicators. The festivals are state wide with virtually all schools with music programs participating. Our school is sending 4 ensembles consisting of about 250 or more students. In years past the IA has performed at a very high level and next week should be no different. What is different about this year from years past is that instead of taking all music students out of the building all day, the students will be leaving in shifts. The String Orchestra and Concert Band will be leaving school at approximately 8am and returning to school at about 1:30pm. The Symphony Orchestra and the Symphonic Band will leave the IA at 12:30 and return after the end of the school day.
We would love for you to join us if you are able! Please contact myself or Mr. LaNoue if you would like to assist in chaperoning! We will need a lot of chaperones to ride the bus to and from. It’s a great experience! Please join us to support our students in this fantastic performance.
Have a great day,
Make sure you are practicing for festival! The final press is on!!!
