Esteemed Music Students and Families:

It is a pleasure to welcome you to another exceptional year of music at the International Academy. We have had many successes to celebrate this past year. There were many exceptional performances at the MSBOA Solo and Ensemble Festivals with several students in our orchestra, band and choir receiving top honors for their individual performances and who represented the IA at the MSVMA and MSBOA state performances. The Music Booster organization applauds all our student musicians and vocalists for their hard work and commitment to performing at their highest potential in all the competitions and school performances. We also recognize and thank each parent and guardian for their support of their student and their participation in our music program to provide us with not only well-trained students but also their time, talents, donations and monetary gifts to make this another successful year.

Our students are very fortunate to have two of the best music directors in the area. Mr. Scott Wolf and Mr. Eric LaNoue, our orchestra and band/choir directors, share their enthusiasm, energy, skill and knowledge to give our sons and daughters an appreciation for music and a comprehensive music experience. Mr. Wolf and Mr. LaNoue nurture and develop our student’s talents, presenting their product in the wonderful concerts that the students perform. An IA student is taught to learn and appreciate all facets of study with a global perspective and our directors contribute their knowledge and expertise to achieve those goals within their classes and performances.

The Music Booster exists to assist our music department and its directors in providing whatever they need to sustain and improve our music program. In education, there is always a challenge to obtain adequate funding for many programs and projects and the music department is no exception. Every year, financial contributions from the Music Boosters provides supplemental instructors for our students, an accompanist for our various competitions, refreshments for all our students at Festival and the purchase of instruments. This year we have purchased a baritone sax and a bass clarinet for our student musicians and have a pending order for a new piano. None of things are possible without your continued support of the music program. As the family of a music student, please take time to fill out the volunteer and membership forms in this packet and pledge your financial support. In order to sustain our support of our music program, we are asking each family with a student musician to donate a minimum of $100 or more for the year. We do not get the same level of financial support that our home districts give to their music programs so it is incumbent upon our music families to support our students. We are a 501c (3) organization, so all donations are tax deductible and 100% of the money we receive goes to the support of the music program. We also welcome all donations utilizing any matching fund programs from your employers and donations from all family and friends. The donation forms are available online for you convenience and all checks should be made out to the IACCMB.

We will host our annual Music Night on Wednesday, August 28th at 7pm. This is a MANDATORY orientation for all music families that will include the distribution of concert attire. Young ladies who are new to the program should plan to be fitted after the freshman orientation on August 13. Please check our website for any updates or changes throughout the year at http://iamusicboosters.org.

I encourage you to attend our Music Booster meetings and look forward to your attendance at our concerts. Our schedule of meetings and concert information will also be posted on our website. Thank you for all your support and let us make it another fabulous music year!

Sincerely,
IA Central Campus Music Booster Board
Shelia Horton, President
